Pickup from your lot
Visible, outside, on property you own or manage. Bagged, loaded, disposed of. The Detroit page lays out why the city will not do this one: DPW takes dogs and cats at the curb and does not enter private property.
Side lots, back yards, the strip behind a garage, the alley if it is yours to keep, a vacant parcel next to a rental. Raccoons, opossums, cats, groundhogs, a fox, whatever came to rest there.
Why it is paid work here
Michigan's Bodies of Dead Animals Act makes a carcass on your premises yours to deal with within 24 hours, and the lawful routes come down to two-foot burial or handing it to a licensed dealer. Detroit lots are narrow, the ground under them is often fill and rubble, and a lot of the people who own them do not live in them. Digging is not the plan for most.
What the operator does is the plan: bag it, take the soil or debris directly under it where that makes sense, haul it, dispose of it, and tell you what they saw.
